Tatyana Gustafson, APRN, PMHNP
I approach mental health and wellness from a deep-rooted passion for this work. My journey in this field started when I was born into a multi generational family of mental health professionals. I became licensed to practice psychiatry/psychotherapy after completing a Master's in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. I am dually certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
My approach centers on establishing long-term relationships with patients, supporting them through the ebbs and flows of mental illness while also focusing on mental wellness during periods of stability. I specialize in general psychiatry with teens, adults and seniors. I have extensive history working with mood disorders, insomnia, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury, executive function and the myriad of symptoms that result from acute and chronic trauma.
My practice draws from years of experience as a full-time faculty member at UT Austin, where I taught courses on various aspects of mental health and continue to serve as a guest lecturer. Teaching, on multiple levels, remains an important part of my work.
To continue my work in this dynamic field of healing, I completed a Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) certification through the Integrative Psychiatric Institute. This work has expanded my approach to psychiatry beyond the traditional methods of treatment. I am actively engaged in educating mental health professionals about KAP through retreats and presentations, sharing my insights and experiences at professional conferences.
In my practice, I uphold a personalized approach, recognizing the inherent healing capacities within each individual. I believe in fostering a collaborative and empathetic environment where we can navigate suffering without judgment and explore the tools available to alleviate burdens and promote growth.
Together, let us embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing.
